John
Chambers received a commission to paint the Brooklyn Bridge. After
completing the painting, he stayed on and has been using the setting of
the Bridge and its surroundings as his subject ever since.
He is originally from
Lexington, Massachusetts, where he owns and designs for Artisan Stone
and Woodworks. Since opening his studio in DUMBO (Down Under the
Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges), John has been working on large canvases
using oils with majestic results.
A professional artist since
1982, John graduated from Massachusetts College of Art in 1981 with a
BFA. Recently he has been given high praise for his work in the May 1999
issue of the New England Art Review.
