Emily's Garden

This garden is a tribute to the spirit of Emily Roebling, who, while raising a family, often worked for her husband at the bridge construction site. She deferred her own career to help him.

In 1999 this triangle of land was a garbage- and weed-filled eyesore.  Three women gave their after-hours and weekend time to transform the space. The Parks Department supplied mulch and tools, and the tulips were gifts of the Fulton Ferry Landing Association.  If you wish to contribute time, let us know. Gardening is rewarding and connects us to the neighborhood.
